Is Jesus in Your Home Today? – Pastor Mildred Okonkwo

Is Jesus in Your Home Today? is another powerful message from our beloved Pastor, Mildred Okonkwo.
Marriage is so important that God started with it. A closer look at the Bible from the book of Genesis will expose this to you. God started with a wedding ceremony between Adam and Eve. Adam was just on his own, minding his business and God reveals to him that he needs a wife. This one of those things I love so much about God. How he reveals his purpose and plan for your life to you without you asking him. God thought within himself and said that it is not good for man to be alone. So, he goes ahead to make Adam a wife.
However, one thing is remarkable here. God made Eve but did not impose her on Adam. He allowed Adam to choose. This scripture makes me to understand that you are the person that determines who you end up with. It is not every one that comes into your life that you should date. It’s not that God is not speaking but we have refused to listen. The person you marry can either make or destroy you.
From the days of Adam down to that of Jesus, marriage has remained essential. Jesus is God in the flesh. Jesus showed that marriage was very important by performing his ever first miracle while on earth in a wedding ceremony. That can’t be coincidence you know.
John 2:1-7 NIV
2 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”4 “Woman,[a] why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[b]7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled it to the brim
We will be drawing out the principles to having a great marriage from the text above. The principles to having a good marriage include the following:
1. Inviting Jesus to your marriage
You see the couple in the Bible did everything to make their wedding ceremony and in fact their marriage a unique one. They rented canopies, chairs, made clothes and so on. However,, they did not leave out the most important thing which was inviting Jesus. Most of us today are carried away by the euphoria of the marriage preparations. We get so busy with the occasion that we forget the most important thing.
Ask yourself: is Jesus in my home? Does Jesus know that you are getting married? Have you invited him to that marriage? This is key because God cannot come into your marriage if he is not invited. If you want your marriage to work, you better make sure that Jesus is involved. You must start your marriage relationship with Jesus at the core. You need him in your marriage because your wine will soon run out. Your marriage must not deteriorate before you do the right thing which is inviting Jesus to take over.
2. Do whatever Jesus asks you to do.
Let the voice of Jesus be the loudest in your marriage. You remember Mary the mother of Jesus commanded his disciples to do whatever he asks of them. That is because; you cannot go wrong while doing what the master asks you to do. Always listen to him for instructions. The Bible is the manual of Jesus’ instructions. Whenever you are in a tight situation, always ask yourself if what you want to do is what Jesus will do in that situation.
The Bible says husbands love your wife. Trust me men, if you love your wives as you should, you will enjoy your marriage. Women only fight with submission when the man is mean. It’s only a demonic woman that will fight you when you show her love. Jesus says: men love your wives. Pet and pamper her. If there’s only one car in the house, give it to her and trek to work. That’s love.
3. Fill your marriage with the word of God
Jesus asked his disciples to fill the pots to the brim. The same is applicable to you today. Fill yourself up each day with words from the Bible. Having full knowledge of God’s word helps you to overcome challenges that come in your marriage easily. When you fill yourself with God’s word, you are reminded each day of the best ways to treat your spouse. As the years are going by, your marriage should get sweeter if you do your marriage right.
If you do what Jesus tells you to do, your marriage will be a successful one. Invite him today.
Make a prayer right now. Tell Jesus to come into your marriage. If you are still single, ask him to help you in choosing the right person for you.
